Angeline and Shaina: The show goes on

It was an eventful “ASAP” show for Angeline Quinto and Shaina Magdayao on Sunday, albeit for different reasons. While both endured pain, they went on with the show and earned plaudits for their professionalism.

An Emotional Turn

Angeline recalled the pain of losing her father as she sung a duet with YouTube sensation Aldrich Talonding.

Taking on the Luther Vandross hit “Dance With My Father” turned into a moving tribute for the two singers. Both had, in fact, lost their respective fathers recently: Aldrich’s father died of non-hodgkin’s lymphoma in June, while Angeline’s dad passed away last Oct. 1 due to kidney failure.

Angeline could not help but shed tears as she sang, so her 14-year-old duet partner helped pull her through.

“Sorry, sorry po,” was all she managed to say after their production number. Her fans rallied behind her by chanting, “We love you Angeline.”

Days before the show, Angeline bid goodbye to her 640,400 Twitter followers.

“Need lang munang iwanan ang twitter world guys.God bless you all,” she posted Oct. 18.

A Fall, Not A Fail

Shaina Magdayao suffered a spill towards the end of her energetic performance of The Pussycat Dolls’ “Jai Ho” with Nikki Gil.

The 24-year-old “ASAP” mainstay slipped after seemingly stepping onto the hem of her long, powder blue Bollywood costume.

Nikki stopped dancing to help Shaina back to her feet. Quite the trouper, the latter even finished the production number with a smile.

On Instagram, Shaina posted a photo of herself in a wheelchair, and another one showing her about to undergo a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test.

She captioned the photo with: “ang napaka ingay na MRI, we meet again. Una, lumbar/lower back! Ngayon naman right foot and knee!”

She continued, “Thank you to the super kind and accommodating staff of Cardinal MRI building for taking care of me this afternoon. Thank you to everyone sending love and prayers through text and Instagram also. ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you@asapofficial and @ninagferrer for taking care of me too today!

“Hayayayyy. Naka plano pa man din ang aking night off and fam dinner bilang tonight lang ako walang work. oh well. Por da lab of dancing,” she closed.

Once home, she posted more photos with her nieces and nephews. She even gave a shout-out to her dancing partner: “@nikkigil literal na a good friend will help you when you fall,” part of her post read.
