A recent accident almost took the life of Jake Vargas en route to Manila from Pampanga.
The Kapuso teen star and his family had taken the trip from the south on the morning of Oct. 12 for a supposed mall show but an unexpected incident halted their travel.
“Pagkabig ni Tito Noli pa-kaliwa, hanggang sa lumakas ’yung pagkabig, umikot-ikot kami at nahulog kami malapit na sa bangin,” recalled Jake in an interview with GMANetwork.com. He added that the accident happened in Dinalupihan, Bataan, where the roads were slippery because of heavy rain.
Sharing his near-death encounter, the 21-year-old actor said, “Pumikit na lang ako, akala ko mamamatay na ’ko. Sobrang na-shock ako dun sa nangyari.”
Jake suffered minor head and back injuries and was rushed to the hospital. “Nagpa-X-ray ako. Sabi nga ng doktor, obserbahan ko raw kung masusuka or mahihilo ako. Basta ’yun lang. Wala naman sinabing malalang nangyari sa ’kin,” he related.
Jake was then advised by the mall show producer to rest.
Now that he has recovered from the accident, Jake is more than thankful that nothing serious happened to him and his family. He also learned something from the experience: “Dati kasi hindi ako nagsi-seatbelt, pero ngayon nagsi-seatbelt na ’ko. Mahirap kasi baka mamaya mawala ka na lang.”
