Having had a full-packed audience and good reception during the screening at the festival, Arcilla already expected the award.
“Punong puno lagi, nagi-standing ovation, umiiyak silang lahat. That’s really true,” the actor recounted in a live interview on “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
He insisted attending the Awards Night in high hopes of bagging a trophy. Director Sean Ellis, and some members of the team, was hesitant at first to stay in Utah.
“Sabi ko, ‘Hindi magi-stay ako diyan hanggang sa Awards Night… dahil kukunin ko ‘yung trophy natin.’ Sabi ko talaga. Sa kanila, balewala, talagang balak nilang umuwi,” the actor related.
“Naiintindihan ko si Sean, eh. Siguro ayaw niyang mag-expect,” he added.

The Audience Award was based on audience votes. With their “prestigious” victory not reliant on juries, Arcilla felt their entry is “relatable” to people from different nationalities.
UK’s “Metro Manila” and Singapore’s Filipino-themed film “Ilo Ilo” have been fielded as entries to the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 86th Academy Awards. They will compete with the Philippines’ official entry “Transit.”
“Ang ‘Metro Manila’ po ay isang dramatic-thriller. ‘Pag hindi po tayo nakapanood nito ay para pong kalahati ng buhay natin bilang Pilipino ay manghihinayang tayo,” said Arcilla.
