Lea Salonga
Broadway star Lea Salonga is disappointed with the information on her Wikipedia page – a free Internet encyclopedia site – and wants to edit it herself.
On Wednesday night, the 42-year-old singer and actress took to her Twitter account (@MsLeaSalonga) to inform her over two million followers: “Check out the top of my Wikipedia entry (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lea_Salonga) I wrote the ‘egregious error’ blurb at the beginning. So don’t touch it!”
A fan told her: “love it, ms lea! 
Following the post, the “Lea Salonga” Wikipedia page showed its top page with a line that read: “Lea Salonga is actually going to edit this biography over the next few days as it contains several egregious errors due to misinformed individuals who think they know her career better than she does. Thank you. (October 2, 2013).” As of Thursday morning though, the blurb has been edited out.
Browsing through Wikipedia page’s revision history, a user named MsLeaSalonga posted: “I am the subject of this biography, and will be making edits over the next few days. Thank you.”
Early Oct. 3, the Disney Legend tweeted yet again: “Dear Wikipedia, your unreliability is astounding. In other words, you suck. Sincerely, Lea Salonga. PS – I wasn’t born in 1961.”
Another follower told her: “@MrJasonRBrown @MsLeaSalonga Actually, you can’t fix your own entry, which Philip Roth learned the hard way: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/books/2012/09/an-open-letter-to-wikipedia.html.”
Lea Salonga is not happy with some of the information on her Wikipedia page
The link opens to a letter to Wikipedia sent by novelist Philip Roth whose work “The Human Stain” was misstated on its Wikipedia entry. Roth wrote: “The entry contains a serious misstatement that I would like to ask to have removed. This item entered Wikipedia not from the world of truthfulness but from the babble of literary gossip—there is no truth in it at all.”
Lea responded with “@MrJasonRBrown Pain in the ass. I tried, and failed. Apparently oneself is NOT a credible enough source for the entity known as Wikipedia.”
Wikipedia states as of Oct. 3 that they are “based on an openly editable model” with articles “written collaboratively by largely anonymous Internet volunteers who write without pay.
“Anyone with Internet access can write and make changes to Wikipedia articles, except in limited cases where editing is restricted to prevent disruption or vandalism. Users can contribute anonymously, under a pseudonym, or, if they choose to, with their real identity.”
