Miss World PH organization on Megan Young basher who lost her job: ‘Karma at work’

The Miss World Philippines organization said on Friday that a Singaporean-Indian woman who was reportedly fired from her job had suffered “karma” for a racial slur against newly crowned Miss World Megan Young.

“Despite the racial slur against Filipinos and Megan, we at Miss World Philippines regret the fact that Devina DeVida’s actions were done at the cost of losing her job,” the organization said in a statement sent to News5.

Nevertheless, the group headed by beauty and fitness guru Cory Quirino called DeVida’s fate “karma at work”. Citing a reliable source, the Philippine Daily Inquirer and the International Business Times have reported that Devida had been terminated from her job as an assistant teacher at a school run, ironically, enough, by Filipino supervisors.

“Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke? I didn’t know those maids have anything else in them. Hahaha,” DeDiva posted on Twitter on Sunday after Young won the Miss World title in Bali, Indonesia.

“It is a classic case of karma at work,” the Miss World Philippines organization said. “And in this case, her bashing was elevated from her personal discrimination which set off an enraged international community. This is truly one society where genuine and noble human values were put to a test. Humanity passed the test. Devina failed.”
