With the conclusion of “My Husband’s Lover” – the first television soap in the Philippines that delves in homosexual love as extramarital affair – many are still thinking about some of its most unforgettable scenes. For Bulletin Entertainment, these were (as “One More Try” intro plays):
Room 1720
Lally (played by Carla Abellana) inserts the key to the doorknob of 1720, the room she suspects is her husband’s love nest. She opens the door and slowly walks across the floor. Then, she sees Vincent (Tom Rodriguez) and Eric (Dennis Trillo), hands on each other’s faces, almost kissing. Camera cuts to close-up on Lally’s bag falling in slow motion, lipstick and cellphone spilling out.
Collecting her wits, all Lally could blurt was: “Siya, siya si Beh? Magkarelasyon kayo?”
Then she collapses in front of the shocked couple. Eric stuffs cotton soused in ammonia up her nose but Lally remains limp as overcooked noodles.
Camp Vincent
When Armando (Roi Vinzon) still can’t accept that his son, Vincent, is homosexual, he asks his “galamays” to kidnap him and forcibly enlists him to a 45-day boot camp. Armando believes that like baking soda, a crew cut and daily ab crunches are absolute solution to all “problems” even, er, gay ones.
Vincent refuses to break and attempts to escape in vain. Feeling desperate, he steals a gun, calls up his father and declares his intent to commit suicide. Later, Vincent would go into coma.
Confession To Kids
Remember that moment when Vincent finally confessed to his kids Hannah (Elijah Alejo) and Diego (Antone Limgenco) that he is gay and in a relationship with “Tito Eric?” How the kids cried and hugged their dad!
As per script, the kids eventually learned to accept their father’s sexual orientation.
Graduation Reflection
Lally finally graduates from college after all her trials.
I am no longer that 19-year-old innocent girl na na buntis. This is me now.” Bow.
‘Fish’ And Order
During Lally’s graduation bash at home, Armando and wife Elaine (Kuh Ledesma) arrives.
Awkward…
But, yes, it was happy ending. While Armando and Vincent did not say sorry to each other, Vincent did pass the fish fillet to Armando as a sign that acceptance has come.
They smiled at each other. Vincent once again and after a long time, calls his father “Dad.”
