Teen sensation Daniel Padilla took home two major plums at the 5th PMPC Star Awards for Music held Sunday at the Solaire Resort & Casino in Pasay City.
The “Nasa Iyo Na Ang Lahat” singer received the New Male Recording Artist of the Year and Pop Album of the Year awards for his eponymous album under Star Records.
WCOPA Hall of Famer Jed Madela, received his third Male Recording Artist award from PMPC, this time for his “All Original” album. Pop star Sarah Geronimo got her second Female Recording Artist of the Year trophy for her Viva Records’ “Pure.”
GMA Records’ Julie Anne San Jose bagged the New Female Recording Artist of the Year for her latest album.
Solid fans of Daniel, Sarah and Julie Anne extended their congratulations on Twitter, making #DanielPadillaPMPCStarAwardsforMusic, #CongratsDJP, #SarahGatPMPCAwardsForMusic and #JulieAnneNewFemaleRecordingArtistOfTheYear the top trending topics of the night.
Apart from Daniel, Gloc-9 also received two trophies for his “Mga Kuwento Ng Makata” and “Sirena” as the Album of the Year and Music Video of the Year, respectively.
But for the rapper, there is something more rewarding than these trophies. On Instagram, Gloc-9 shared a letter from his child. It read: “I’m so proud of you! you are so blessed I will always pray that your career will continue to grow I’m so happy! more blessings to come! I love you!”
Meanwhile, “Foursome” of OPM icons Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Ogie Alcasid and Regine Velasquez was named Concert of the Year.
Martin and Regine got their individual awards as Male Concert Performer of the Year (“Foursome”) and Female Concert Performer of the Year (“Silver”), respectively.
Iconic folk singer Freddie Aguilar received the Lifetime Achievement Award, while Dulce, Imelda Papin, Rey Valera, Rico J. Puno, Sampaguita and Vic Sotto were named the Icons of OPM.
Hosted by Billy Crawford, Erich Gonzales, KC Concepcion and Xian Lim, PMPC Star Awards for Music honors the country’s best music compositions, performances and artists.
