Upon arriving in the country yesterday, Megan Young shared how it felt being declared victor of the prestigious Miss World 2013 crown.
“Oh my God, ano nga ba? Kasi, when you’re in that moment, you’re just so stunned. Hindi ka makapaniwala sa nangyayari. ‘Ako ba?’ parang gusto mong paulit kung ako na ba talaga itong tinawag,” she told “TV Patrol.”
She puts it as “ibang klaseng pakiramdam na minsan hindi mo talaga ma-explain kung ano ’yun, kasi halo-halong emosyon.”
As for the title itself, the first-ever Filipina Miss World admitted, “hindi pa (talaga) siya nagsi-sink in hanggang ngayon.”
Miss World’s Mom
Megan also mentioned a particular person, who supported her all the way to the top.
Amid the revelry over her historic proclamation, she shared that “Ang unang nakita ko sa crowd si Mama. ’Yung mga tao nandidito, nagwawala, pero siya nandun sa isang aisle, as in nakatayo lang siya dun.”
The 23-year-old Filipino American beauty queen appreciated her mother’s presence “kasi si Mama, nasa States siya nagtatrabaho, tapos ako ’yung nag-aalaga kay Victor tsaka kay Lauren (siblings) ’pag nandidito kami sa Pilipinas, so it’s nice to see her again.”
Going back to winning the crown, Megan believes a proper mindset is the key to success.
“I guess it’s just the strength from within. Sometimes you just have to claim it – isipin mo na, ‘Eto na ’yun, you only have one chance,’ why not claim it na, ‘Ako na ’to, ako na ’to. Kaya ko ’to, kaya ko ’to gawin,’” she explained.
“So just bring it, bring whatever you have to the table and just claim it.”
