Fans dressed up as zombies compete for prizes at 'The Walking Dead Zombie Ball' at the Maxims Hotel on Saturday.
With its Season 4 premiere drawing a record 16.1 million viewers in the US, it’s just fitting that Asia give the latest adventures of “The Walking Dead” a fitting pre-Halloween welcome.
In preparation for the latest season of the cult zombie horror series this Saturday, October 19, Fox International Channels hosted “The Walking Dead Zombie Ball”, a costume party held at The Terrace at the Maxims Hotel in Resorts World Manila.
Guests who came as made-up scary zombies were treated to ghoulish games, freaky fun and lots of goodies at game booths and onstage during the program that preceded an advanced screening of the latest season’s first episode, “30 Days Without an Accident”.
Created by acclaimed filmmaker Frank Darabont (“The Shawshank Redemption”) and based on the popular comic book series by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard, “The Walking Dead” remain just as popular in the Philippines and many parts of Asia as it is in the US.
For Season 4, the creators of the show have come with new ways to keep things fresh, promising, among other things, to reveal new ways to stave off those pesky zombies while providing more conflict and tension among the surviving characters.
With the cliffhangers of last season’s finale, viewers are eagerly anticipating the premiere of Season 4 to answer the questions left in their minds.
Will the prison community survive without the leadership of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)? Can Glenn (Steven Yeun) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) find happiness in such a cruel world? How will The Governor (David Morrissey) plan his revenge on Rick and his group of survivors?
Season 3 also saw the death of many long-running characters that had been on the show since Season 1. There was T-Dog (IronE Singleton) sacrificing himself to save Carol (Melissa McBride) in a walker attack. Lori (Sarah Wayne Callies) died while giving birth to Rick’s daughter, and Andrea (Lauren Holden), a fan favorite because of her strength and will to survive, had to kill herself after she was bitten by a reanimated Milton (Dallas Roberts).
In Season 4, viewers will find out what will happen to the remaining survivors as well as be introduced to a number of new characters who will significantly determine the course of the story. Several notable characters from the comic books will be introduced this season, including Rosita Espinosa, played by Christian Serratos.
The season premiere’s 16.1 million viewers is the largest US audience yet in the show’s history, trumping the 12.4 million viewers of its Season 3 finale.
