All is set for Miss World 2013 Megan Young’s triumphant homecoming today.

Miss World Philippines national director Cory Quirino related in a communiqué with Interaksyon that Young would be busy upon her arrival from London, starting off with a press conference at 5 p.m.

The newly crowned Miss World will then proceed to the Mall Of Asia (MOA) Arena to toss the ceremonial jump ball in the country’s first-ever NBA game, a preseason match between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets. In the evening will be her victory dinner party at the grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort & Casino.

Victory motorcade

Meanwhile, the Metro Manila Development Authority will be spearheading Young’s victory parade on Friday, Oct. 11, after her courtesy call with President Benigno Aquino III at the Malacañang Palace in the morning.

The grand motorcade will begin at 2 p.m. at the Makati Central Post Office, en route to Ayala Avenue and EDSA, to eventually the MOA Arena, wherein fans and supporters will have the chance to meet and greet the beauty queen.

The MMDA have already prepared a crown-shaped float, which will be embellished with blue and white flowers, to be accompanied by 15 horses, vintage cars and motorcycles.

“Merong platform kung sakaling umulan, meron naman ’yung open para makita siya ng crowd,” MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino told “TV Patrol” of Young’s parade float.

Although Tolentino clarified that the motorcade would not affect the traffic, saying, “Sisiguraduhin natin na tapos ’yan bago magsimula ’yung rush hour. Minsan lang mangyari ’yan after 62 years.”

Quirino, on her part, announced, “The public is invited to participate in the parade, escort Miss World’s motorcade and attend the program in MOA. Miss World fans are requested to wear something blue which is the color of the crown and meet Megan along the route of the motorcade. There is a request for the office workers to shower blue, aqua and white confetti as the motorcade passes their respective office buildings.”

Young would spend Oct. 12, in Olongapo City, her hometown, paying a visit to Mayor Rolen Paulino.

She returns to Manila the next day, for scheduled TV appearances on Sunday variety shows “ASAP 18” and “Sunday All Stars.”

Young concludes her homecoming activities with a visit to the Philippine General Hospital on Oct. 14, living up Miss World’s “Beauty with a Purpose” ethos. She will also be honored with a commendation by both the Senate and the House of Representatives on the same day.
