Angelica Panganiban, Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco
Following her controversial statement expressing doubt over Jason Francisco’s preparedness for fatherhood, Angelica Panganiban admitted she wouldn’t be seeing her friend Melai Cantiveros walk down the aisle.
“Wala, hindi. Hindi din naman ako invited,” she said in a press interview when asked if she’s planning to attend Melai and Jason’s wedding in December.
Nonetheless, the “Banana Split” star clarified that she has no beef with the engaged couple. In fact, she wishes her friend to be the most beautiful bride on her special day.
“Diyos ko, wedding nila ‘yun, i-enjoy nila. Kapag wedding ko, ayaw ko rin na may maririnig akong masama ang loob sa akin,” she noted. “Naku, magpaganda siya, magpa-bongga siya, at once in a lifetime ‘yan kaya dapat siya ang pinakamagandang bride at dapat nasa World Book of records si Melai sa ganda niya.”
Angelica added that she will still pray for her friend despite their supposed misunderstanding.
“Pagdadasal ko kayo, ‘yun naman ang sinabi ko at gusto kong maging matagumpay sila sa larangan ng pag-ibig, ng pagbubuo ng pamilya, siguro ako tapos na ‘yung obligasyon ko,” she said.
Angelica expressed concern for Melai when she found out the latter was pregnant with Jason’s baby a few month ago. Their common friend, Pooh, likewise aired a challenge for Jason: “I-prove mo sa amin na worth ka talaga para du’n sa kaibigan namin.”
The couple, for their part, said they were hurt and insulted when Angelica and Pooh aired their opinion.
Angelica now says she has yet to talk to Jason. She nevertheless defended Pooh, reiterating that they are only concerned for the comedienne.
“Hindi ko nakakausap si Jason. Hindi ko rin alam ang number niya. Kung siguro minasama niya ‘yung sinabi ng kaibigan ko, si Pooh, opinyon iyon eh. Hindi kasi masama ‘yung intention ni Pooh. Ang gustong sabihin ni Pooh and ‘yung iba pang nagsabi noon, sobrang mahal namin si Melai,” she claimed.
