Celebs here and elsewhere hail Manny Pacquiao’s victory over Brandon Rios

Whether it’s at home or in several viewing parties all over the world including typhoon-ravaged Tacloban City, every fan of Manny Pacquiao who saw his methodical beating of Brandon Rios in their lopsided bout in Macau, China was overjoyed to see the triumphant return of their hero.

At the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort & Casino, an elaborate set-up that included a boxing ring, giant high definition videos, dancers and round girls plus live commentaries from Bill Velasco, Noel Zarate and Anthony Suntay and appearances of “kaloka-likes” “Manny Paksiw”, “Coach Freddie”, “Boyet De Leon” and even “PNoy” further enhanced the viewing experience.

There were also celebrities in the audience who were more than happy to share their thoughts with the media after the night. Concert queen Pops Fernandez spoke calmly but could not deny her happiness over Pacman’s win.

“Siyempre, ang saya ng mga Pinoy ngayon. Proud na proud na tayo kay Pacquiao. We needed this victory lalo na during these times na medyo down tayo. Parang sa lahat ng rounds, maganda ang delivery niya, exciting ang fight. In the beginning, medyo kinabahan ako kasi gusto naman nating manalo talaga si Pacquiao pero as the fight went on, nakita ko na naman na kayang-kaya niya,” Pops told InterAksyon and other media representatives.

Model, host and celebrity sportsman Marc Nelson agreed. “Fantastic fight. I think Pacquiao really outboxed Rios and it’s quite obvious who the better boxer was. Although many are expecting Manny to go for the knockout, especially after the controversy between their trainers, Rios still took quite a beating and it showed. Still, it’s nice to see the old Manny back. It really is,” he said.

And then, there are also TV5’s Eula Caballero and Chanel Morales who admitted that it’s both their first time to watch a Pacquiao fight viewing party.

“At first kinabahan talaga kami kasi ang laki ni Rios eh. Pero ang galing ni Ninong lalo na nung Round 5, yun ang favorite namin. Congratulations, Ninong for making us very proud again and again,” Eula exclaimed.

“We’re back!” an ecstatic Chanel added.

Elsewhere in social media, local and Hollywood celebrities were more than thrilled to post their thoughts on the fight on Twitter.
