Famed club DJs exhort Pinoys to stay strong, keep the faith

The effort to ease the sufferings of those affected by the “Yolanda” catastrophe goes on, with many from all over the world lending a hand to grief-stricken Pinoys.

Even the most popular stars and celebrities are using their fame and talent to highlight the cause. Taking time off from their busy schedules to offer more than just tired sympathies to a country in crisis are internationally renowned club DJs Axwell, Nicky Romero and No_ID, who all performed together at the MOA Concert Grounds recently for a one night only fundraising event dubbed the “United Republiq: An Electronic Music Assembly for a Cause” organized by popular messaging and calling application Viber via its #VIBERHELPS campaign in collaboration with producers Worldwide Womb & Driven.

Axwell who first gained notice via his stint with the Swedish House Mafia and known for the hits “Feel The Vibe,” “Save The World,” “Don’t You Worry Child” and “In My Mind” among others, said during a short chat with the media prior to his set that he wanted to be able to spread some cheer to Pinoys amid the tragedy.

Romero, who is known for his collaborations with other artists like Avicii and David Guetta, encouraged his local fans to keep the faith.

Meanwhile, NO_ID, composed of Dutch duo Ralph van Vugt and Devi vander Horst, who gained fame starting in 2008 with their track, “Wurld,” said that they wanted to make sure Filipinos know that the world cares.

All DJs have pledged an estimated Php 7,000,000 to provide relief to those who continue to suffer from the tragedy.

The concert in itself was wild and frenetic, with more than a handful of Pinoys showing great enthusiasm in expressing their appreciation relating to the all-out effort of the DJs to provide them some much-needed musical relief.

Starting the affair are a string of Local DJs including Ace Ramos, Marc Naval, Martin Pulgar and Mars Miranda, who did well in hyping up the massive crowd via separate sets.

But the throng reserved their biggest applause to Romero and Axwell, who kept on exhorting the audience to let loose and have fun as “they deserve it.”

And dance they did.
