Helping is humbling – Piolo Pascual

Piolo Pascual sees this season, especially after “Yolanda,” a perfect time for people to reflect on their faith.

“All the more that we should cling to God,” he said in an exclusive interview. “We are not in control of the things that happen around us, we can’t do anything about it (coming of typhoon), all we can do is pray.”

He hopes for Christmas to uplift people as it is “not all about feeling low and depressed.”

Piolo certainly looks forward to it because it means being together with family members who all plan to do their part in helping the needy.

“My mom is coming in a couple of days and my sisters also are coming, so it’s gonna be a family affair (but) because of all the calamities that’s been happening, we’ll try to do our own way of helping out. I guess more than for ourselves, it’s gonna be for our kababayans … we wanna give back to all the victims as much as we can (and) at least share a blessing with them,” he said.

As part of a group of artists who are staging fundraising concerts for the benefit of Yolanda victims, he aims to inspire hope through his music.

“(I want) to lift their spirits through concert and shows, performances, helping is humbling; It’s always a great feeling to be able to help, of course give inspiration, encouragement.”

He added, “I think at the end of the day, as long as you gave from your heart, you just pray na sana pumunta sa mga (calamity victims), pero it’s out of our hands, pero sana with all the efforts that we’ve been extended from different countries and groups, ang prayer mo nalang sana you know more than just today, more than just for the moment, magkaroon ng sustainability for all the efforts sa mga communities.”
