Actress Marian Rivera was overwhelmed by the warm reception she received in Vietnam over the weekend, not realizing how big a star she has become in the country.

Talking to PEP, the actress described the adulation the Vietnamese media extended her, saying, “Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa nagsi-sink in sa akin na, ‘Totoo ba ‘to?’”

Rivera’s visit came courtesy of SNTV and Today TV, Vietnamese channels that had several of Rivera’s old series for GMA, including “Marimar” and “Dyesebel,” running on syndication.

Apparently, Rivera thought that it was Pinoys living in the area that requested for her visit but she was more than surprised to find out that it was mostly the locals.

She shared, “Iilan lang ang mga Pinoy. Hindi ko nga maintindihan ang mga sinasabi nila…. Oo na lang ako nang oo! ”

In the subsequent press conference held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, more than fifty media outlets covered the frenzy with organizers eventually imposing a lock-down due to overcrowding.

Rivera said she tried to entertain every question even when they had to go about it the hard way.

“Kasi magtatanong sila ng Vietnamese, tapos sasagutin ko ng English, tapos i-translate na naman nila ang sagot ko,” she said.

“Pero okay lang, masaya. Nakakatuwa sila. Masayang-masaya ako na ganun nila ako katanggap dito,” she added.

Following the press con, Rivera also attended a grand fans’ day.

She also appeared on some shows of Today TV and SNTV.

Rivera is set to fly back home on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
