No more bad blood between celeb ex-lovers

Shaina Magdayao and John Lloyd Cruz

Who says ex-sweethearts can’t be friends?

Though far from being chummy, John Lloyd Cruz and Shaina Magdayao as with Jake Vargas and Bea Binene are showing everyone that friendship, however basic, is possible between ex-couples.

Cruz and Magdayao reportedly bumped into each other at the recent birthday party of common friend actress Bea Alonzo. Many expected fireworks as Cruz supposedly arrived at the party with girlfriend actress Angelica Panganiban. But instead of clawing at each other, Cruz and Magdayao surprised many when they exchanged pleasant hellos.

Magdayao confirmed the report in an interview with ABS-CBN News, relating how Cruz took the initiative to approach her. Not that it was anything new. “Binabati naman niya ako kapag nagkikita kami. (So) ‘yun pa rin,” Magdayao said.

Asked if they were able to chat, Magdayao said, “Busy kami pareho nung night na iyon. Tutok ako kay cousin (Alonzo) kasi birthday ni cousin eh.”

Magdayao refuted insinuations of lingering heartache on her part insisting that she had learned to “let go of the negative things, the negative feelings.”

She added: “Although in reality tao ka lang din naman so sasama ang loob mo or masasaktan ka pero at the end of the day, nasa sayo iyon kasi gagawin mo iyon hindi para sa ibang tao but para sa sarili mo.”

Meanwhile, Vargas and Binene was able to touch-base anew when he made an appearance at her recent birthday party.

Early on, Binene told Bulletin Entertainment that she isn’t expecting Vargas to attend the celebration.

“Ewan ko, bahala siya,” said she.

Unknown to the actress-singer, Vargas was already planning to surprise her.

Apparently, the actor-singer wanted to greet his ex-girlfriend personally at the stroke of midnight by appearing unceremoniously at an unidentified hotel suite within the Metro, where Binene was billeted since Nov. 3, along with family and friends including showbiz colleagues Barbie Forteza, Joyce Ching, Kristoffer Martin and Derrick Monasterio – but only for a slight incident where he could have actually died.

“Naaksidente po ako sa NLEX,” he told GMA News in an interview.

He didn’t detail the nature of the accident but in any case, the actor-singer caught up with Binene when she catered lunch for cancer patients on Nov. 4 – her exact birth date.

Binene expressed elation over Vargas’ efforts in the same GMA News interview.

“Sobrang na-touch ako at sobrang na-appreciate ko ‘yung effort niya bilang galing pa siya ng Olongapo, at naaksidente na siya at lahat,” she said.

Awwww.
