A survivor of super typhoon “Yolanda” simply identified as Mae has auditioned for the fifth edition of the ABS-CBN reality show “Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)” in Cebu over the weekend.

In a video uploaded by ABS-CBN on Sunday, the reality show hopeful looked quite upbeat despite admitting having lost their home in the catastrophe.

According to Mae, she finds solace in the fact that, at least, she had no family members among the dead or missing.

“I still think that we are luckier (than most) and (that) we are still blessed,” she said.

A first-year college student, Mae said she went to Cebu after the typhoon to continue her studies since “nasira po ’yung schools sa place namin.”

Mae said she was prompted by her siblings to look for a school in Cebu and avail of a scholarship grant.

The plucky youngster said she took the opportunity to audition for “PBB” in hopes of eking a better future for herself and her family.

The audition for fifth season of the popular reality show kicked off last October 26 in Davao.

The Cebu auditions began last week.
