Ferdinand Guerrero, one of the accused in the mauling of TV host-comedian Vhong Navarro last year, was arrested in his condominium unit in Makati City last Sunday.
Guerrero, who is facing charges of grave coercion and serious illegal detention over the January 2014 assault, shared how he disguised himself and even used the name “Maverick” in the months following the incident.
While the MMA fighter admits he was the one seen in the CCTV footage inside the elevator unit of model-stylist Deniece Cornejo, he clarified, “It’s not true na isa ako sa mga nambugbog. Had I participated, had I’ve done that, hindi na siya makakatayo.”
He dismissed talks that he planned to leave the country, maintaining, “If I wanted to, I could have flown out earlier… I could but why would I?”
His message for Vhong?
“Vhong, I’m speaking from the heart ah, you know, what happened to you is unfortunate. We’re deeply sorry (na) nasaktan ka ng ganyan, it’s not right… We don’t want you to die, we want you to have a long life but there must be justice, (it) has to be served. You know what you did; let the court decide because rape is rape.”
Guerrero was referring to model Deniece Cornejo’s claim that Navarro raped her.
Cornejo, Cedric Lee and Simeon Raz Jr., Guerrero’s co-accused in the illegal detention case, were allowed to post bail in September after being detained.
Vhong is yet to speak up on the matter.
