LOS ANGELES | Troubled former teen star Amanda Bynes was arrested over the weekend on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of drugs in Los Angeles, the California Highway Patrol said on Monday.
Bynes, 28, who has become known in recent years more for her legal troubles and bizarre public behavior than for her acting, was taken into custody Sunday at 4:10AM (1110 GMT), the CHP said.
CHP declined to say what drugs Bynes was suspected of having used. The arrest report said Bynes was arrested “based on the observed driving and her evaluation.”
Officers said they saw her Mercedes-Benz sport-utility vehicle stopped in the middle of an intersection in the Sherman Oaks area, northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
Bynes appeared disheveled at the time of the traffic stop, according to the incident report.
The actress was released from Los Angeles jail at midday on Sunday after posting a $15,000 bail, according to jail records.
Representatives for Bynes could not immediately be reached for comment. Bynes is due in court on Oct. 23.
Bynes, who became a star at the age of 13 when she had her own comedy show on the Nickelodeon television network, had been out of headlines for more than a year. She was placed under psychiatric care after she allegedly started a small fire in front of a Los Angeles home.
Bynes, the star of 2003 film “What a Girl Wants,” has not appeared in a film since 2010′s “Easy A.”
The actress is on three years’ probation after pleading no contest in February to a misdemeanor charge of reckless driving with an alcohol component stemming from a 2012 arrest when her BMW swiped the side of a patrol car in West Hollywood.
Bynes’ mother had been in control of her legal and financial affairs since August 2013. Celebrity website TMZ said the conservatorship ended earlier this month.
SINGAPORE–In the early ‘90s, Irish rock band U2 released the song “Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses” that touched on the unpredictable nature of the four-legged creature albeit in allegory. With this in mind, we were excited to watch the human-horse show “Cavalia” because we wanted one question answered: Are the people in command of the animals or is it the other way around?
Currently being staged under the White Theatre Tent next to the Marina Bay Sands through Oct. 5, the theatrical production features 50 horses and 42 artists. “Cavalia” has drawn horse lovers and those into the innovative arts from all over South East Asia who, perhaps like us, want to witness a cooperation based on friendship rather than master-servant relationship between man and horse. Anyone who watches it will get more than what they want- “Cavalia” is a breath-taking performance in front of a constantly changing digital background of dream-like environments projected onto a 60 metre-wide screen that can leave anyone mesmerized!
It’s no easy task. In many traditions all over the world, the horse symbolizes imagination, free-spirit and taking risks because the creatures are all these things in real life. And while men have been riding horses for ages now, there are breeds of horses that are just hard, if not dangerous to tame. Some of these are in “Cavalia” – Comtois, Criollos, Percherons, Spanish Purebreds, Warmbloods – and they perform like pros for people as if going against their natural temperament. One can’t help but hold his breath watching the whole spectacle knowing that one wrong move by the artists, or the littlest distraction, could throw the horses off. But as it were when we watched the show, the show is executed perfectly so there’s no need for worry at all. Did we mention some of the horses have hair braided? Cute.
There’s always something happening throughout “Cavalia” that makes the two and a half hour time allowance just fly. Aside from the background that “transports” you from such locations as the desert all the way to the galaxies, there’s World Music, energetic dancing in detailed costumes, acrobatics done with harnesses that suggest flying or dreams, and a lot of derring-do (ever seen a two-storey human pyramid?). The show that tells the story of how human and horse met and came to forge a bond is for young and old alike who want to be entertained, thrilled.
According to a release, the show can be customized for an extended experience, including a Horse Lovers Package that lets patrons tour Cavalia’s stables after the show, and the VIP Rendez-Vous Package that includes a post-show tour of the stables, a cocktail/dinner reception and much more. Indeed, those are two more reasons to fly all the way here to watch the show before it goes to Seoul, Korea.
“Cavalia” is presented in Singapore by MediacorpVizpro International and BASE Entertainment Asia. It has been seen by over 4 million people across North America, Europe, Australia and the Middle East. For tickets or for more details, visit www.cavalia.sg

Actress Andi Eigenmann divulged that former “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Clash” housemate Bret Jackson is courting her. Speaking in praise of the TV personality, Eigenmann told “The Buzz” that, “He’s really been nothing but amazing to me.”
The actress made clear that Jackson is no mere “rebound,” even after she recently called it quits again with Jake Ejercito following the publication of several photos that showed the latter kissing another girl.
“Bago po ’yung issue, nakilala ko na po kasi si Bret. It was his personal decision to still keep talking to me and wanting to be there for me when that issue came out,” she said.
The actress is seemingly ready to move forward, admitting that she simply cannot forgive former president Joseph Estrada’s son for the indiscretion.
“Alam ko po Jake has done so many things to me na magaganda talaga. Pero sana hindi ako ’yung sisisihin or mamasamain kung sa tingin ko medyo masakit na hindi ko masyado natanggap yun sa kanya,” she said, adding, Pakiramdam ko naloko ako.”
Ejercito made several efforts to win her back but for Eigenmann it was too little, too late.
“Sana nung tayo pa kinaya mong gawin ‘yun. I never felt na I deserved it, na maging proud na ako ’yung tao na mahal niya,” she said.
Meanwhile, Ejercito took to Twitter account to explain his side of the issue.
“I don’t deny that I’m not a perfect partner or boyfriend. I’ve apologized to Andi and to the people who matter most to us for all my shortcomings,” he said.
Ejercito addressed the kissing photo, which he maintained he did not intend to happen. “I am not washing my hands clean… If anything, my only slip-up was that I allowed it to happen.”
Ejercito also described Eigenmann as his greatest love.
“I discovered something that hit me like a truck. I am certainly not using it as an excuse, but it had a lot of bearing on how I reacted,” he said.
