Married for four years already, Angelika dela Cruz admits she is saddened by news relating to showbiz couples having called it quits.
“Nakakalungkot kapag nakakakita ka ng mga kaibigan mo, nakita mo silang magkasama tapos naghiwalay, nakakalungkot kasi sayang,” said she.
Angelika prays that it doesn’t happen to her marriage. “Maayos naman kami. (Pero) siyempre ang fear ko anything can happen. Things can change kaya kailangan you really have to work hard on your marriage,” she explained.
Angelika and her hubby are already on their eighth year as a couple including the four years they have been married. She is confident that her marriage will last.
An ingredient to her successful marriage to husband Orion is their bond or constant “togetherness.”
This interview actually happened when she and her husband were in Iriga City for the city’s 45th Charter Anniversary celebration. Angelika was among judges in the Human LED contest along with singer Noel Cabangon. Both performed for the crowd after the contest together with Sam Concepcion.
According to Angelika, her husband Orion accompanied her to see his high school friend from Claret, Ronald Felix “Ganggang” Alfelor, who is now the mayor of Iriga City.
“Sanay kaming laging magkadikit. Although ngayon lang siya talagang sumama sa out of town gig ko,” she shared.
Angelika was overwhelmed with the warm reception she received from the Irigeños. Despite the unpredictable rains, the Irigeños stayed on until after the competition and their performances were finished.
For Mayor Ganggang Alfelor, bringing in celebrities or “artistas” to participate during city festivals serves as “inspiration” and a “thank you” to his fellow Irigeños. He vowed to continue the projects of its past mayor, who is his sister Madelaine Alfelor Gazmen. One of his pressing projects is job creations via new businesses like Call Centers and Organic Farming.
Angelika intimated that her hubby got “jealous” when he saw that his Mayor friend already have two children.
“Nagrereklamo na yan kasi gusto ng sundan yung four years old namin,” shared Angelika with a smile.
Angelika also wants another baby because she feels it’s the right time.
A second child though doesn’t mean she’s “quitting showbiz.” In fact she’s headed for a busy Christmas season if her next TV project, which is already in the works, pushes through this November. Her contract which expires on January 2014 is also up for renewal.
“Tinanong ako ng husband ko kung gusto ko pang mag-work after or gusto ko ng magpahinga. Siyempre gusto kong magtrabaho. Kasi I’m doing this for myself. Passion ko ito. You can’t take this away from me. Ang sa kanya lang naman, he’s just asking baka kasi na-stress na ako with work and taking care of the kids. Kasi kapag nag-rest ako lalo lang ako tataba sa bahay kasi magluluto lang ako,” related Angelika.
