Lauren Young denies easing out Julie Anne San Jose of ‘Dormitoryo’

Lauren Young is happy with the attention being lavished on her by the Kapuso Network.

Young transferred to GMA-7 from ABS-CBN only last year and already, she has bagged back-to-back projects with the network namely the recently concluded soap “Mundo Mo’y Akin” and “Dormitoryo” to premiere Sept. 22.

The 19-year old admits she couldn’t ask for more from GMA-7 management at this point.

“I feel so appreciated talaga. Nakakatuwa ‘yung tiwala na pinapakita nila sa akin,” she told Bulletin Entertainment.

“Dormitoryo” sees Young doing her first-ever lead role on a GMA-7 series as Hazel Mendoza, an inquisitive student eager to know the truth behind the death of fellow student Maika Benitez (played by Wyn Marquez).

Young described the series “exciting” and “different.”

“It’s not your typical teenage series,” she says.”HIndi lang siya basta puro pakilig, it’s a little bit dark and maraming suspense.”

Aside from Marquez and Young in the series are Joyce Ching, Enzo Pineda and Ruru Madrid.

Prior, it was announced that Julie Anne San Jose will be part of the series but she was pulled out of the project at the last minute.

Asked about rumors that she pushed for San Jose’s removal from the series, Young waxed incredulous.

“No. Bakit naman?” said she, adding, “hindi naman ako ganun. I don’t have any reason to do that and besides hindi naman ako ang nagdedesisyon on these things.”

Young insisted that she was even looking forward to working with San Jose.

And what does she feel about fans pitting her against the singer-actress?

“Wala lang, kasi wala naman talagang ganun (competition) but I can’t force them to think otherwise,” she said.

Young wasn’t keen on addressing the issue about her supposed “brewing” romantic relationship with Elmo Magalona, the son of her manager Pia Magalona.

She hinted however that someone “inspires” her nowadays.

Prodded to reveal the identity of her “special someone,” she said, “Basta inspired (ako). Hindi na kailangan malaman ng tao (kung sino).”
