While Aga Muhlach waits for Philippine politics to be “sparkling clean” before he runs for office again, the awarded actor explores the game show genre with his new TV5 show “Let’s Ask Pilipinas.”

Aga’s show is the local franchise of “Let’s Ask America” which was developed by Jeff Apploff (“Don’t Forget The Lyrics,” “Take Me Out”) and the late Jim Paratore and produced by Telepictures and ParaMedia inc. which is distributed internationally by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

“What got me excited and what will get our audience excited too is that all of the contestants of this show will be playing via video conference call. Meaning kahit nandun kayo sa bahay ninyo, opisina, nasa banyo kayo habang nakaupo ka, basta may internet connection ka pwede kang contestant. Ganun ka-simple,” Aga said during TV5′s Trade launch at the NBC Tent, Bonifacio Global City recently.

This is Aga Muhlach’s first taste of game show hosting and it’s a first on Philippine television. The show makes use of the Internet and one of the world’s exciting form of communication – video calls. Because of fast internet connections available nowadays, contestants get to play in the comforts of their home. By participating through video calls on their computers, tablets or mobile phones, they get a chance to win P500,000 daily from Mondays to Fridays from 8 pm to 8:30 pm.

What are the mechanics?

“Basically, we will be following a multiple choice format. What makes this unique is that there will be no right or wrong answers. All questions are survey based. So madali lang ito kasi ang mga sagot dito kung anong iniisip ng mga Filipinos so tayong lahat. Dito hindi mo iisipin na baka magmukha kang tanga kasi all the questions have money values,” explained Aga.

This daily, half-hour, television game show surveys Pinoys on interesting, relevant, relatable and fun trivia. Contestants only have to predict the correct answer and will win the prize money corresponding to the question. There are three rounds and at the end of each round, the contestant with the lowest cash total gets eliminated from the game.

“Pag dating sa jackpot round, in case may tie, merong ‘Dash for Cash’ na mga challenges for example tatanungin ko kung may karayom at sinulid yung contestants. Kung sino ang unang magpasok ng sinulid sa karayom, pasok sa jackpot. Sa jackpot round pwedeng magtaya ng magkano or all in for the final question. Sa all in pag tama we multiply the contestant’s money five times.”

“Let’s Ask Pilipinas” is part of TV5′s “Give Me 5” campaign as it delivers to nationwide viewers exciting new entertainment programs from Monday to Friday, on their primetime block starting Oct. 14.
