Enrique Gil never dreamed of headlining a major concert but since it’s on, he’ll give it his best shot.
“Ang goal ko lang is to thank the fans, sulitin yung ibabayad nila to watch the show,” he told Bulletin Entertainment and select members of media in a recent interview.
The producers of Gil’s dance concert titled “King of the Gil” was convinced of his potentials in seeing him perform “Teach Me How To Dougie” and “Gentlemen” on Sunday variety show “ASAP.”
To be held Nov. 29 at the Araneta Coliseum, it’s an ambitious undertaking, indeed, for one who’s coming into the concert scene from out of the blue. Still, Gil is not letting the pressure get to him, saying that having the right mind set steadies the nerves.
Is he ready for more comparisons with Daniel Padilla? Both are being molded by ABS-CBN as all-around male stars.
Gil shrugged off the notion, saying he simply wants to try something new.
“Friends kami ni Daniel. Sa (TV series na) ‘Princess and I,’ isang taon din kaming nagkasama. Sanay na kami (na kinukumpara), we understand,” he added.
“King of the Gil” is being staged by Star Events and ABS-CBN. The guest artists are Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, Toni Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario and Young JV. Gil will also share the dance floor with his “Muling Buksan Ang Puso” leading lady Julia Montes. Also featured in the concert are the dance groups Streetboys and G-Force.
