Eugene wins at Tokyo International Film Fest

Actress-comedian Eugene Domingo bagged the best actress award for Jun Robles Lana’s “Barber’s Tales (Kuwentong Barbero)” at the 26th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) on Friday.

“Eugene wins Best Actress!!! #TIFFJP #Tokyo #Barber’s Tales.” Lana announced via Twitter shortly after the awarding ceremony.

“Barber’s Tales (Kuwentong Barbero)” is a drama film set in a rural town during the Ferdinand Marcos dictatorship in the early 1970’s where Eugene plays a woman who took over the barbershop business when her husband died and soon fosters sisterhood among the women in her rural village.

This recognition is Domingo’s second international win after she received the People’s Choice Award for Best Actress for her performance in “The Woman In The Septic Tank (Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank)” at the 6th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong in March 2012.

Eugene is currently working on the MMFF entry “Kimmy Dora: The Prequel Kyeme.”
