GAF honors Kuya Germs

Master Showman German Moreno, fondly known in showbiz as Kuya Germs, will receive a prestigious Icon Award from the Gawad Amerika Foundation (GAF).

GAF is a California-based non-profit organization that “aims to help the helpless and give hope to the hopeless,” according to its official website. In line with its dedication to the advancement of Filipinos, as well as Filipino-Americans, the foundation gives recognition to entrepreneurs and artists who excel in their fields.

In a report on PEP, Moreno says “Isa itong pagkilala sa akin na hanggang ngayon ay nasa industriya pa rin ako. Bumabandera ka pa rin kahit papa’no, siguro nakita nila ’yung achievements ko sa showbiz for how many years. Ito lang naman ang kayamanan ni Kuya Germs — walang cash.”

Moreno will leave for Los Angeles on Nov. 2 to attend the Gawad Amerika Awards Night come Nov. 9 at the Celebrity Centre in Hollywood, California.

The “Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman” host, who is now in his golden year in show business, is successively receiving awards this year.

“Siyempre para sa akin nga, e, isa itong inspirasyon dahil isa na naman itong parangal, isang pagkilala sa iyong naiambag sa industriya. Nakakataba ng puso na after all these years ay nandiyan pa rin sila para mapahalagahan ang isang Kuya Germs,” said he.

For the 70-year-old star builder, retiring is still far from his mind. “Hangga’t kailangan ako ng showbiz, mananatili ako dito. Hangga’t may naniniwala sa isang Kuya Germs, walang dahilan para magretiro ako sa showbiz,” he declared.
