The insta-issue hounding Aljur Abrenica

The problem with online communication, despite the instant gratification it provides, is that it is a cold medium. Actions or non-actions online – including being friends on a platform like Facebook – can be misconstrued to a certain extent.

Take Aljur Abrenica, for example.

Hounded by intrigues for apparently not “following” his on-screen partner Kris Bernal on Instagram, of all things, the former “Machete” lead star was forced to explain the situation.

“What happened is accidental… kasi last night or two days ago hinahanap ko ’yung account ni Kris, sabi ko ‘Binlock kaya ako nito?’ So ’di ko mahanap, ’yun pala hindi ako naka-follow. All I know naka-follow ako sa kanya siguro I accidentally… napindot,” Aljur told Bulletin Entertainment and select members of the media recently.

Aljur noted that, “(Nung nakita ko) finollow ko kaagad tapos sinabi ko kaagad sa kanya…”

However, he said he had no clue that Kris felt bad about it.

“Nakwento ko sa kanya… nagtampo pala sa akin. Sabi ko, ‘Bakit ’di mo sinasabi sa akin?’ Eh, sabi niya, ‘Baka naman…’” his voice trailed off.

Bittersweet Fans

The issue started from the misunderstanding among the fans of Aljur and Kris, who are both leads on GMA’s newest soap, “Princesa Ng Buhay Ko;” as well as the fans of Aljur’s lady love, Kylie Padilla. Apparently, the fans have been exchanging words against each other on Twitter and Instagram.

Addressing this issue, Aljur said, “’Wag naman nating sabihin na ganon… Ang sarap lang sa pakiramdam na minamahal ka ng tao… pero kapag nagaaway-away na sila lalo na kapag naiipit ka mahirap talaga. Ako as much as possible inaayos ko… kinakausap ko sila.”

All this showbiz-related hassle is enough to put a strain on any real-life relationship. However, when asked about how he and Kylie are doing – especially with rumors of a breakup swirling about – Aljur declared, “We’re happy.”

“Prinsesa Ng Buhay Ko” is a story that aims to inspire viewers to always have a positive attitude and disposition, as life becomes better when one chooses happiness over material possessions.

The ongoing series is directed by Dondon Santos, and also stars LJ Reyes, Renz Fernandez, Carmi Martin, Lian Paz and Marco Alcaraz, among others.
