Wedding gowns play a great significance to the bride, perhaps just as much as the wedding ceremony itself. For Melai Cantiveros, who is engaged to marry Jason Francisco in the first week of December, her bridal gown will hold an even more special meaning.
“Ang mga nanahi lang ang mga parents ko. So tatay ko, umuwi pa from Saudi, tapos dun siya kumuha ng tela tapos babalik siya by November,” Melai’s soon-to-be husband told “TV Patrol” during a recent press conference.
He continued, “’Yung kanya is, ano talaga, ’yung parang, gawa sa kamay, pagmamahal ng magulang ko.”
Aside from their much-awaited nuptials, the “Pinoy Big Brother” sweethearts are also expecting a child.
Wedding updates
Melai recently took a breather in General Santos City following her experience with morning sickness in the first trimester of her pregnancy.
Jason, on the other hand, has already gone to Melai’s family for his “pamamanhikan” while he is in her hometown.
“Sabi ng mama ko, ‘Jason ingatan mo ang anak ko, kahit na ganyan ang mukha niyan,’” Melai related.
The couple has also wrapped up their prenuptial shoot, with the theme “enchanting forest,” in Subic.
“So ang pinunta namin dun ang forest, tapos dinala na lang namin ang enchanting,” Melai jokingly continued.
Melai has since gone back to work, but not without developing weird food cravings along the way.
“Mahilig ako sa mga tutong at tsaka sa mga isda. Malalansa,” she admitted.
Rough road down the aisle
The couple’s trip down the aisle wasn’t that all smooth sailing. The 25-year-old comedienne recalled, “Hindi naman ’to basta-basta ’yung relationship namin. Naghiwalay nga kami ng one year pagbalik namin, ’di ba?”
Jason interjected, “Ganyan talaga ang love, ’di mo naman alam ’yan, napaka, ano ’yan, madaya.”
