Preparations for the 8th Cotabato Annual Dance Festival are underway in line with the celebration of the 77th anniversary of Midsayap, North Cotabato in November.
The SOCCSKSARGEN region’s largest dance festival showcases cheer dance, pop dance, dance sports and rural folk dance.
Several dance companies are expected to grace the festivity, including representatives from University of Southern Mindanao in Kabacan, Notre Dame of Kidapawan College, Central Mindanao Colleges in Kidapawan City, Turning – Pointe School of Dance, Southern Christian College, and other school-based dance troupes, as well as out-of-the-school youth teams.
On the other hand, groups who will compete in the cheer dance competition are Gintong Agila Pep Squad of Midsayap, Madaw Cheer Revolution of Davao City, and cheer dance teams from Pigcwayan National High School, Alamada National High School and Notre Dame of Midsayap College.
With the theme “One Night, One Big Fight,” the dance festival aims to showcase the talents of the youth and to promote tourism in the province, according to Maricar Bautista- Karatuan, executive director of the 8th Cotabato Annual Dance Festival.
