Two years after jumping ship from GMA to ABS-CBN, Iza Calzado is still being hounded by questions insinuating that her career seems to have stalled. While she feels it is understandable that some people feel this way, she is nevertheless standing her ground.

“Eh ako naman hindi naman talaga ako pumapatol sa mga mapanghusgang remark… I knew that something good was going to come my way and I trusted that,” she told Bulletin Entertainment in a recent interview.

Proof enough that she is right, Calzado is currently up to her neck with work.

Apart from hosting the upcoming season of “The Biggest Loser,” she is also busy shooting a movie alongside Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga. She is also part of the new TV drama “You’re My Home,” which will start taping in November.

“Actually matagal na namin sinimulan ’yung ‘Biggest Loser’ at mapapanood na rin ’yan early next year,” she shared. “Pero oo nga, na-realize ko na kasi siguro wala ako sa TV kaya nagtataka ’yung mga tao… Pero ito nga, ang biyaya ay sabay sabay na dumating.”

Of “You’re My Home,” she said, “I’m so happy kasi ang ganda ng role ko dito, it’s the kind of role na talagang hinihintay ko.”

She also pointed out, “Tapos kasama ko pa dito sila Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta, ’di ba? And Shaina (Magdayao) na isa sa mga una kong katsikahan ng lumipat ako dito; and, of course, Enchong (Dee)… Kaya ’yun tama nga ’yung saying na good things comes to those who wait.”

Calzado also isn’t too worried about her workload getting heavy.

“I’m more excited actually,” she said. “Tsaka ang dami ko nang pahinga, nakapag-pondo na ako ng madaming sleep so I’m quite ready.”

As for matters of the heart, the 31-year-old quipped, “Eh ’di gagawan ng paraan,” adding, “Ang sa akin kasi there is always time for love. ‘Yan ang aking stand kahit noon pa man.”

Calzado believes that work will not come between her and her man, Filipino-British sportsman Ben Wintle.

“Kasi, ‘di ba, more time for himself and more time for myself din… tutal naman maraming panahon na meron din naman (kaming) breaks, nakakapag-bakasyon. So, kumbaga may oras ng kalma, may oras ng taranta so sakyan mo na lang. Dapat kayanin,” she said.

Despite their relationship going great, Calzado is not thinking of settling down yet.

“Wala, ’wag muna, mga two to three years pa siguro, bata pa ako eh,” she shared, smiling. “I want to focus muna on myself.”
