Singer-songwriter Martin Nievera is set to stage a repeat of his highly successful “3D (Tatlong Dekada)” concert held last Sept. 13 at Smart Araneta Coliseum. The concert was in celebration of Martin’s 30 years in the business, a tenure that only artists of extraordinary calibre and unbridled passion could achieve.
The repeat, slated on Nov. 22, will be at the same venue. This time it will be produced by Nolstead, Inc. but with the same production team including Louie Ocampo as musical director and Rowell Santiago as stage director. An integral part of the show is of course the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Gerard Salonga.
It was in 1982 that Martin, the son of then very popular balladeer Bert Nievera who was the vocalist of the famed Hawaii-based Society of Seven, was first heard in the Philippines. He was trying his luck as a singer and as fate would have it, the extremely talented Martin did not only equal his famous father’s popularity but surpassed it.
Martin’s powerful voice coupled with an energetic performing style gave him his own identity. He proved himself a born hitmaker early on in his career, with the huge success of his songs “Be My Lady,” “Each Day With You,” “Holiday,” “Please Don’t Throw My Love Away,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin” and “Say That You Love Me.”
Later, Martin would find himself conquering television as well, via such successful shows as “Penthouse Live!” and “Martin After Dark” where his natural gift of gab made him an ideal talk show host. While endearing himself to television audiences, Martin continued to make more hits – “Kahit Isang Saglit,” “You Are My Song,” “Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin,” “Forever,” “Ikaw Ang Aking Pangarap,” “Kung Nasaan Ka Man” and many others.
But it is in live concerts where his talents and successes blend together to present the Martin Nievera whom fans love the most. That is why he came to be known as the “Concert King,” staging many memorable, sold-out shows that now includes “3D (Tatlong Dekada).”
Martin, at a recent press conference where he grilled burgers for the entertainment press, said that next year he will be having an intimate series of shows at SM Aura, Taguig City. As for his guest performers in the repeat, he didn’t want to reveal them but “Anne Curtis might be there, and so with Arnel Pineda and Bamboo…” was all he said.

Bea Binene Gives Hope To Typhoon Victims
GMA Artist Center star Bea Binene celebrated a meaningful 16th birthday at the Ruby Hall of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas last Nov. 13. Instead of the usual unlimited drinks, overflowing food and loud party songs, the actress used the celebration to raise funds for the victims of the typhoon Yolanda.
Bea, who is an active volunteer of GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), personally requested her guests to help give hope to the people who were greatly affected by the super typhoon. One of her sponsors gave a R200,000 donation to GMAKF as a birthday gift for the Kapuso homegrown actress.

During her celebration, she announced that she and her fellow Kapuso stars Barbie Forteza, Yassi Pressman, Joyce Ching, Krystal Reyes, Jake Vargas and other tween hearts cast members have agreed to hold a garage sale wherein the proceeds will be donated to GMA’s socio-civic arm. She will also be auctioning off some of her items via her Instagram account.
One of the things she’s thankful for is the chance to help. “Kaya patuloy akong nagpapasalamat sa Diyos dahil ginagawa niya akong instrument para makatulong sa mga kapwa kong nangangailangan. I would also like to thank the people who shared their time and gave donations para sa mga naapektuhan ng bagyo. Malaki ang maitutulong nito sa muli nilang pagbangon,” she shares.

Spyro Marco, ‘Talentadong Pinoy’ Winner
RCD Land Incorporated, a major player in the real estate and construction industry, awarded recently a house and lot to Spyro Marco, the 19-year-old grand winner of TV5’s now defunct “Talentadong Pinoy.”
The house and lot is located in RCD Land’s Royale Homes community development in Silang, Cavite. The spacious, three-bedroom house is part of Marco’s grand prize package for winning the coveted slot.
RCD Land Founder and President, Roland C. Delantar, personally turned over the house and keys to Marco together with RCD Land Vice President Reynaldo B. de Leon and RCD Realty Corporation, President Arvin B. Francisco during their 26th anniversary celebration at the same venue.
