‘Anak Ko Yan’ coaches mull the multi-media star

Two “Anak Ko Yan” coaches have opposing views when it comes to developing talents who can do it all.

In a recent interview, Dulce believes that while it is good to explore other potentials, a person and the people around her should be able to acknowledge her limitations so she could move on to focusing on her strengths. The singer cited dancing as example, saying that while most everyone could learn steps, being a graceful dancer is an entirely different thing. She added that in her case, singing was enough to ensure longevity in the business.

Dulce also talked about having the “heart” for her chosen craft. While many see show business as a ticket to having fame and fortune, she stressed that the primary consideration in the willingness and passion to showcase God-give talents. As far as “Anak Ko Yan” is concerned, no contestant was forced to join and that win or lose, it’s the experience and seizing the opportunity that count for them, Dulce said.

Rochelle Pangilinan, on the other hand, thinks that some talents deem becoming a multi-media star a responsibility to their public. She said that they want to be able to show something new to people all the time as it is what’s expected from them. The dancer didn’t have a hard time coaching the contestants on “Anak Ko Yan” despite the broad age range (7 to 17 years old) since the older ones are able to understand instructions faster while the younger ones have more “beat” in them.

The top 5 parent-child finalists (Jenjen-Daddy Allan tandem, James-Mommy Gina-tandem, Dranrie-Mommy Rotchie tandem, Johnny-Mommy Janet tandem and Sean-Mommy Flor tandem) agree that the show has made them closer to each other. The children came to trust all the more that their parents have their best interest at heart, while the parents realize that their kids are individuals not be controlled but simply guided into discovering themselves.

Actress Jennylyn Mercado considers the finalists winners-all for the exposure they’ve received on the show. They may just be starting in their journey to stardom, but already, she tells them about the importance of professionalism and the hard work ahead.

GMA-7’s “Anak Ko Yan” is on its finale week with grand finals set for Nov. 15.
