Miss World 2013 Megan Young guested on the popular US talk show “Good Morning America” on Tuesday and appealed for aid for typhoon victims in her native country, the Philippines.
Joining ABC anchors Lara Spencer and Josh Elliott, the 23-year-old Filipino-American revealed upon Elliott’s urging that she was born in Virginia and moved to the Philippines at age 10.

Young then spoke at length about the devastation suffered by her countrymen and then asked the audience to donate to Red Cross Philippines, saying that as little as $5 could provide “a whole family water and rice, supplies for a good period of time”.
She was accompanied to the studio by the Philippine consul general in New York, Mario Lopez de Leon Jr.
Young is in the US for a series of fundraising efforts for the typhoon victims in the Philippines. Last week, the Miss World charity organization Beauty with a Purpose decided to give all the proceeds of its charity events to the Philippines.
She will travel to Manila — her second homecoming after winning the crown in Bali in September — on November 27 to bring home all the donations she will have raised. Accompanied by a delegation from the Miss World organization, she will visit Tacloban City on November 28 and Coron, Palawan on November 29.
