Actor-singer Mark Bautista has concluded his successful stint in the West End staging of hit musical “Here Lies Love.”
Appearing on “Startalk” over the weekend, Mark shared his fulfilling experience over his seven-month stay in London.
“Ang sarap! Kung may choice lang ako na mag stay pa do’n, magi-stay pa ako at mage-explore pa ako ng maraming bagay do’n,” he said.
Living independently abroad, the 31-year-old learned a lot of things, especially in handling his finances and doing house chores.
On portraying the late former President Ferdinand Marcos, Mark said it was a “mixed emotion” of pressure and enjoyment.
“May halong kaba kasi, siyempre, iconic ’yung character na pine-play mo at nakapa-controversial,” he explained. “Masaya rin ’yung show. Hindi naman parang sinisiraan (si Marcos) or something – maganda ’yung pagkaka-kuwento ng story kaya masaya at gusto kong gawin din.”
According to the bachelor, he received so much admiration for his performance, inspiring him to do more on his job.
Among audiences who expressed appreciation in the show are no less than fashion designer-film director Tom Ford and singer-actress Kylie Minogue.
Mark related, “Si Kylie Minogue, sobrang nakakatuwa! Nu’ng tinignan namin kung sa’n siya nakaupo – kasi hindi siya pumunta sa floor, parang may special area siya du’n, apat yata sila –makikita mo siya dahil sila lang ’yung grupong sayaw nang sayaw. Tumatayo talaga siya.”
“Ang sarap ng feeling na kasama ka do’n sa pinapanood niya. Parang, ‘Wow. Kailangan nating gandahan ’to!’” he continued.
Mark disclosed that “Here Lies Love” might have a rerun late this year. The production is still planning the logistics.
Now that he’s back in local show business, Mark is set to release an album and topbill a huge project in May. He’s also gearing up to sing for the anticipated wedding of actress Heart Evangelista and Senator Chiz Escudero on Feb. 15.
On Sunday, Mark made a celebrated comeback on “Sunday All Stars” where he showed off his impressive rapping skills, among others.
