Toni Gonzaga’s absence from Sunday talk show “The Buzz” sent netizens speculating that her longtime boyfriend, director Paul Soriano, already popped the big question to her.

“Feeling ko nag-propose na si Direk Paul kay Toni Gonzaga kaya wala sya sa The Buzz kanina. Ayiieeee LoveLoveLove <3,” one said.

Talks on Toni’s engagement started after veteran actress Sandy Andolong referred to the former as a “loving and loyal fiancé(é)“ in a birthday greeting recently posted on Instagram.

The multimedia star, who was supposed to celebrate her 31st birthday on the “The Buzz” and address the issue, explained in a statement sent via the program that her absence was due to “very personal” reason.

“I am very sorry. I know it’s my birthday celebration sa ‘Buzz.’ I’m very sorry but I cannot attend ‘The Buzz’ this Sunday. I love my ‘Buzz’ family so you will be the first people to know why. I’m just going through something very personal and I’m really sorry for the short notice,” she related.

Although she also has no idea why Toni missed the show, host Kris Aquino believes Toni is not going through a serious problem.

“I don’t think she’s sad,” Kris said, adding, “She said tayo sa ‘Buzz’ ang unang makakaalam. Sa pagkakakilala natin kay Toni, she doesn’t like to burden us with problems. The fact na nakalagay doon na ‘I love my Buzz family at dito ko una ipapaalam,’ ang interpretation ko lang ay hindi ito malungkot na balita.”

Meanwhile, Sandy already clarified her “fiancé(é)” tag and expressed her apology to Toni and Paul for causing “trouble” on Instagram.

“I just based it on the fact that you both have been in a very stable,& God centered relationship for years. Plus I just thought ‘fiance’ sounded more appropriate & romantic… I never realized it would cause so much commotion & reaction from so many people,” part of Sandy’s post read.

Toni and Paul are yet to speak up on the rumored engagement.
