Come Valentine’s Day, ex-sweethearts Matteo Guidicelli and Jessy Mendiola will join people all over the world in coloring the day red. The two, of course, will be doing so separately.

Matteo, who is in a relationship with Sarah Geronimo, assured fans they will celebrate their first Valentine’s together. However, they have yet to make concrete plans around their busy schedules.

“Every day should be a day of love naman, but Valentine’s is a day of extra love,” he said. “Sana nga araw-araw Valentine’s para mas loving ang mga tao, parang ’yung spirit ay Christmas ba – ’pag Christmas, mas loving ’yung spirit. Sana laging ganon.”

Jessy, who has been single for some three years now, plans to spend Valentine’s with friends.

Asked if she looks forward to the date, she said, “Siguro recently, hindi na masyado (special) kasi nasanay ako na single. But we’ll see.”

The 22-year-old star is prioritizing her career. She’s now working on ABS-CBN’s upcoming TV series “Will Never Say Goodbye,” along with Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

Playing a fashion designer on the show is a breath of fresh air for Jessy, noting how “different” it is from her past roles.

“This one is very refined and very graceful,” Jessy said.

Meanwhile, Matteo is also busy with his own TV series, “Inday Bote,” co-starring Alex Gonzaga and Kean Cipriano.

On his role, he shared, “He’s a rich guy that falls in love with an ordinary girl, Inday, played by Alex. Hindi ko pinapansin si Alex but eventually things will turn out our way.”

He also appears with Alex on “Maalaala Mo Kaya” in an episode set to air soon.

Riding with Matteo, Jessy

Matteo and Jessy were among celebrities who graced the unveiling of Yamaha’s brand new Tricity, a three-wheel scooter, at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds over the weekend.

The scooter boasts of the LMW (Leaning Multi Wheel) mechanism, which allows riders to “deal with changes in different road surfaces while keeping both tires in contact with the road as it leans.”

The two stars tried it out and both agree to experiencing an “easy and smooth” ride.

“Awesome, man! It’s really, really cool. This is the first time I saw a unit like this, with two wheels in front and one in the back. It’s very smooth,” Matteo told members of the press.

“Nu’ng una, kinakabahan ako tapos surprisingly, it was very fun,” Jessy added. “It’s very smooth kasi akala ko hindi siya madali (sakyan), akala ko matutumba kami or like magagasgas sa mga bumpers but hindi naman.”

The experience made Jessy want to own a motorcycle in the near future.

Matteo, meanwhile, is a known motoring enthusiast. “I don’t know why but I guess I was born with it. Kumbaga, I was introduced to it at an early age that’s why I have so much passion for it,” he shared.

So far, he has earned three Philippine Karter of the Year titles. He is said to be the first Filipino to have competed at the Italian Karting Championship.

He hopes to take a road-trip around the US someday. “Iyon ang ultimate dream ko talaga,” he said.
