Kissabela “Sexy” Tuazon had long wanted to follow in the footsteps of her mom, actress Maureen Mauricio. Luck smiled on the 13-year old when she was cast in the currently showing movie, “Saranghaeyo #ewankosau.”
In an interview with Bulletin Entertainment, Kissabela said it was film director Roman Perez Jr. himself who approached her to join the project.
“Magkaibigan po kami ni Direk kasi madalas po ako sumama sa shooting ng mama ko. One time, he called me at sabi niya na i-try ko umarte at mag-audition… gusto niya daw kasi ako (makitang) umarte on film,” she said.
To make the long story short, she passed the test. “Nakakatuwa kasi napakita ko na kaya ko. This will be my way of expressing my feelings – sa pag-arte,” she said.
Kissabela considers it a blessing and honor to work alongside such actors like Barbie Forteza, Francis Magundayao, Jon Lucas and Elisse Josson, among others.
“Hindi ko ’to ine-expect kasi bago pa lang ako. ’Di ko akalain na makakatrabaho ko sila,” she said.
On being ‘sexy’
Despite being a bit on the chubby side, Kisabella is bent on giving fairer and fitter showbiz stars a run for their money.
She confidently asserted, “Naniniwala ako na (sa show business), mas importante na may skills ka (sa pag-arte).”
Kissabela believes her size could actually help her snag more work though non-lead parts at first.
“(At) hindi naman po kasi importante kung ikaw ang lead, ang mahalaga ay may role ka na kaya mong gampanan ng mabuti,” she said
Inspirations and limitations
Aside from her mom, Kissabela considers Kathryn Bernardo her greatest influence. “Ang galing niya po kasi lalo na kapag nag-drama siya sa TV,” she said.
As actress, Kisabella has a simple dream: to make her family proud. She promises to try her darnedest even as she aims to maintain good grades. Apparently, it’s the only condition her parents set for the grade five student to continue in show business.
